About Trail of Faith Farms
Trail Of Faith Farms is a Christian Based Equine Facility located in Trenton, North Carolina. The Farm is owned by Joshua and Jessica Shively. Trail of Faith Farms is continuously striving to better our amenities, so we can better accommodate all students. We pray that God will continue to guide us in establishing our Farm. Our goal is to uplift souls and spread the word of Jesus Christ by the use of horses. We hope to continue to grow to serve others. Trail of Faith Farms is located off of East Pleasant Hill Road.
Currently, Trail of Faith Farms offers horseback riding lessons at any level starting at age 6 and up, instructed by Jessica Shively. Trail of Faith Farms facilities include rolling pastures, 160'x200', 60'x90' trail obstacle course, wheelchair ramp, 40' roundpen, corrals, bathroom, convenient parking, and a beautiful horse barn.
Jessica Shively has 25+ years of experience with riding, teaching, and training horses. Jessica started riding at age 6 at JR Stables. Jessica spent so much time at JR Stables that it became her first job when she turned 15. Jessica started out mucking stalls. Then made her way to assisting the owner/instructor, Jeannie, in teaching riding lessons. Jessica has experience in both English and Western riding but has excels in the western discipline.
Jessica is a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor; through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH International). The foundation of her training techniques is based on Natural Horsemanship that is taught by world known professionals, such as Pat and Linda Parelli. Her training and teaching methods are also influenced by Lynn Baber, Paul Daily, Monty Roberts, Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman, and professional trainers, such as Shawn Flarida and Jesse Chase. Jessica is currently working with her personal horse, Rocket, in Level 3 of Parelli Natural Horsemanship, as well as cross-training in Reining. Jessica also has a passion in gentling and training wild mustangs (also known as wildlies) that are rounded up from out west. She is an approved Trainer through the Mustang Heritage Foundation and the Bureau of Land Management. This means Jessica has extensive knowledge in training wild horses/burros, and her facility meets government standards to house them. Jessica is one of 4 approved Trainers in North Carolina to work with wildlies. She goes above and beyond to educate, advocate, and find qualified adoptable homes for the mustangs that come into to Trail of Faith Farms.
Jessica takes every opportunity to further her education in all areas of riding, horsemanship, and loves learning. Jessica has an Associate's Degree in Agriculture Sales and Service: Minor in Horse Training; specializing in Reining and she's pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Equine Business Management through St. Andrews University. She continues to ride with professional mentors and seeks every opportunity to grow in her profession to be a more knowledgeable and skilled trainer and instructor.
Any donations of equipment such as: fly spray, double or single handled surcingle, HELMETS, mounting blocks, nylon-colored reins, coastal Bermuda hay, horse blankets, and any other Equine related items are appreciated. We know that God has big plans for this place, so your support and prayers are appreciated!
