Trail of Faith farms will be hosting a Parelli Clinic, August 22-23, 2015., at Bright Star Farm. The address is 208 Pleasant Hill Rd. Trenton, NC 28585. This clinic will be a 2 day event: Includes 2 Online Workshops and 2 Freestyle workshops. The online skills will help prepare our horse to be more confident by learning the 7 games and the process of understanding sills to prepare for riding. This program is a fun way to communicate with your horse as if you are a horse yourself. Dylan's mother shared this event with me. The story show's how the young boy's confidence has grown since he's been participating in horseback riding. ........."I just had to share this because it's so awesome. Last night we took Dylan to the fair on base and he was able to ride all the rides without any meltdowns. He even rode the carousel TWICE which the past two times we've tried him on it... It was too overwhelming for him. He had meltdowns and wanted off as soon as it started moving. It was awesome to see how far he's come with his sensory issues and be able to enjoy himself. He even ask to go on rides! Definitely got teary eyed last night lol."....... Since Dylan has been participating in lessons, I organize all kinds of games incorporating stretching, that is out of his comfort zone, ground exercises, such as him leading Annie the horse, and other games to work on sensory issues. I enjoy seeing his progress and the fact that other people, including his family recognize his improvement's, its truly rewarding! Bright Star Farm hosted an Easter Egg Hunt, live music, and face paintings. Trail of Faith Farms had a booth set up and horse painting. Children lined up and used finger paints to paint Miss Annie, the horse. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time! I would like to start off by giving a big thank you to our friend and neighbor,David. Thank you so much for letting me use your beautiful horse, Annie. Lessons would not be possible without this beautiful horse. Annie is absolutely wonderful with children. She seems to like them even more at the end of the lesson, when she gets treats, such as carrots and apple slices. Treats are actually a very positive way to bond with the horse. It gives the student time to form a friendship with the horse, the same way you do when you groom the horse. Annie is truly a special horse and continues to find her way in many hearts. Again, I can't say thank you enough. Y'all are so wonderful and it's such a blessing to work with such an amazing horse. Sincerely, Thank you so much. I would like to say Thank you for all the donations. I can't say enough how much I am thankful and how it truly is such a blessing. David and Marti from Jacksonville- Thank you for the riding helmet. Thank you for the gorgeous mounting block that ya'll built. It turned out to be wonderful and beyond what I expected! Also, for all the wonderful ideas you have given me to get Trail of Faith Farms name out. I can' t put into words how wonderful ya'll are. Thank you! Josh and Newassa from Trenton- Thank you for donating the hair bows used for horse assisted therapy games. I love seeing Annie the horse, getting all dolled up! This is a wonderful tool to help with stretching and twisting. Thank you so much! Elizabeth from Holly Ridge- Thank you for donating the saddle and the box of boots and other goodies. Everything and anything helps. I appreciate it so much. Keep your head up and your doing a wonderful thing in being a teacher. God bless you and your family. Thank you! Jesse, Sherry, and Nicole Burkett, and Holly Smith from Kinston- Thank you for donating the bridle sets, bits, saddles and the girth. I can't say thank you enough and how much I appreciate your kindness. It was such a pleasure meeting ya'll! Thank you so much! Thank you to a few other people that have donated a children's saddle and an English saddle and pad. I apologize I can't remember your names, but everything is being put to use. Again thank you so much for everything and it's truly a blessing! I would like to share how wonderful God is. I have a young student that took his first fall this past Saturday. To give you a little background on this student, he has sensory issues, has bursts of energy, and like any human being, tends to not pay attention at times. I had planned to do a fun exercise of rounding up loose 'cows'.(Paper cutouts placed randomly around riding area) The student was using a hula hoop to round up the loose cows. This is a good exercise to get his focus, help with his balance, and coordiantion. Well, it was rather windy that day. A gust of wind lifted one of the 'cows' off of the barrel it was taped too. The horse moved suddenly to the left and the student fell to the ground. Naturally, this startled the student. I helped him up and asked if he was ok. I worked with the horse in the spot where this all occured, while the student's parents tended to him. My husband assisted me and took the horse to the center of the riding area. I asked the student if he wanted to play catch next to the horse. I did this so he could build up his confidence and focus on another task. After doing this exercise, I asked the student if he was ready to ride again. The student said yes! I was so relieved that this young boy cowboyed up! He ended this lesson on such a postive note. He had a smile of accomplishment and expressed it with a sigh of relief. I was thrilled to see that the Lord took this event and good came out of it, and God kept this little boy safe! It shows you that matter how prepared we are and have things planned out, everything takes it's own course. It's up to you to handle it the best way possible and see light in every situation! |
