Meet the Herd
These special Equines are the ones that keep this program going! These horses have a variety of backgrounds and disciplines from a trail horse to a rescue horse. These horses have come from all over the United States and have found the perfect "job" here serving children, adults, and Veterans at T.O.F.F. We are truly blessed! It takes a lot of funds to upkeep these special animals, so if you wish to donate to care for any of these horses, it is most appreciated.

Born: March 1, 2007
Breed: Percheron/Quarter Horse Cross
Gender: Mare
Height: 15 1/2 hands
Color: Grey
Job Before: I was a trail horse
About Me: I belonged to a young boy who used to trail ride me everywhere in the woods, on the road, up hills, through water, and over bridges, whatever your thinking I've seen it! My favorite speed is walk or stop. I can be kind of lazy at times, but if you keep asking me to move forward, I'm more than happy to please you.
My Likes: I love all my students that I have met so far here at T.O.F.F. My favorite part is when my students give me treats after riding. I LOVE apples, carrots, and watermelon cut off the rind.

About Me: I was 2 years old when I came to T.O.F.F. Since I've been here, I have learned so much! I know how to be respectful on the ground, saddled, and be ridden. I have been on the trails and ridden in the arena. I had an accident last year so I am taking a break until I can get further training and get my confidence back. So know I am mostly used in demonstrating Natural Horsemanship with the Trainer.
My Likes: I like to be the boss! I am the leaded of my herd and I always make sure everyone is ok. I love treats like apples and peppermints.

Job Before: I was a lesson horse
About Me: I have a long history with the Trainer here at T.O.F.F. I am her personal horse that she rides when demonstrating training techniques, lessons, and we ride out on the trails. I was one of the first lesson horses that she learned how to ride on. She has known me since I was 2 years old. I am a very pushy horse, so I know I have taught the Trainer how to be a good rider. I make her work hard for everything! I was born in Southern Illinois and was so glad when I finally came home to NC. I am a been their done that kind of horse and I have really seen it all. I'm about as 'bombproof' as you can get.
My Likes: I like to make sure where all my friends are. I love to please my rider and I get bored easy. So I love to do all kinds of different riding exercises! I love jumping and Reining and of course I LOVE food and treats! I will eat almost anything as long as my owner says it's ok.

Arrived at TOFF: September 30, 2019
Born: September 1, 2015
Breed: Mustang/Quarter horse cross
Gender: Gelding
Height:
Color: Dappled grey
Job Before: I was a rescue horse as a result of Hurricane Florence. Trail of Faith Farms was contacted by several people who were looking for folks to adopt me and 6 other horses. We were all surrendered to a rescue due to unforeseen circumstances with my previous owners. Josh and Jessica visited the location where I was. I was so excited to hear the first words that came out of Josh's mouth! He said no matter what I was goin home with them, and I did!
About Me: I have a long history of going from rescue to rescue. I am a timid horse at first, but I have alot to say. If you can't show me confidence, I get insecure. I need to have a strong leader. I was handled incorrectly as a youngster so I don't trust people easily. Alot of people chased me and treated me wrong. When I first arrived at TOFF I wouldn't let anyone touch me to be haltered or handled. I realized that these people weren't going to hurt me after a few weeks. I learned that these people waited for me to approach them instead of chasing me like other people have in my past. Now I trust people a lot easier as I've been shown what proper leadership looks like from humans. TOFF is now my forever home where my herd mate, Grace and I, are used to help veterans with PTSD and other emotional battles.
My Likes: I am a follower, so I like to be lead with great confidence. I also love to be rewarded with scratches on my neck and shoulders. I am a very curious horse. I like to check things out at my speed, which is rather slow. I also love my herd mate Grace. I love to run, buck, and play in the pasture with her.

We were all surrendered to a rescue due to unforeseen circumstances with my previous owners. I didn't know who I was going home with until the day I was put on the trailer. I overheard Jessica say to her husband that she had always wanted her very own BLM mustang and that I was perfect, regardless of the trauma I had experienced and the vices I had. I knew I was going to a great home with Jet.
About Me: I don't remember to much about my past. I was once used as a broodmare. I had been ridden a few times. I wasn't exposed to great horsemanship. When I first arrived at TOFF I was very scared, I reared up to be haltered and didn't want to be handled. After a few weeks I realized that these people weren't going to hurt me. I was handled incorrectly in my past, but I'm much more safer to handle now. Now I trust people a lot easier as I've been shown what proper leadership looks like from humans. Job Before: I'm a been there done that kind of horse. My previous owner took wonderful care of me, but she couldn't ride me as much as she used too. She knew I needed a job. I am a great horse trained in reining, ranch work, cow work, and trail obstacles.
About Me: I am an awesome horse for beginners and advanced riders. I can teach you the fundamentals of riding from smooth walk/trot/canter transitions, to confidently maneuvering over trail obstacles to slide stops. I'm a bit lazy, but if you can find my go button, I can get into some high-speed gears. I love to please my riders and I'll take care of you wherever you point my head.
My Likes: I love attention, treats, and scratches. I love to be spoiled whether it's just a brush down in the pasture, a bath at the wash rack, or a ride down the trail. I also love, love, love, to be fly sprayed, as I don't care much for flies or mosquitoes.

Arrived at TOFF: December 22, 2020
Born: March 1, 2008
Breed: Appaloosa
Gender: Gelding
Height: 16.1
Color: Blanket Appaloosa
Job Before: I was a rescue horse. My previous owner took wonderful care of me, but she couldn't work with me as much as she wanted too. She knew I needed a job and a firm but soft hand to guide me and handle my quirks. I was abused before my previous owner rescued me. I couldn't be groomed, stand tied, or be ridden well. I needed someone to help me. Then my previous owner reached out to Trail of Faith Farms and I was donated to their equestrian program. Now I have been rehabbed and can be safely handled. I'm still figuring out the riding part, but I love to play at liberty.
About Me: I am an awesome horse for intermediate to advanced horse enthusiasts. I can teach you the fundamentals of horsemanship, as in how to properly catch, lead, tie, brush, and pick out my feet. I'm a bit grumpy as I used to have a lot of tummy issues and my skin is really sensitive in the summertime, I get a lot of special supplements to keep me happy. If you're patient with me, I try my best to learn and please my handler.
My Likes: I love attention, my stall, bath time, flyspray, treats, and gentle rubs. I love to be spoiled whether it's a soft brush down, someone dressing me in my summer wear, such as my flysheet, fly boots, and flymask. I also like my blanket in the wintertime as I don't grow a very thick coat. I'm a big boy so I love to eat lots of hay.

Height: 14.2

Job Before: I was a wild horse roaming the lands out west. I was rounded up from Antelope HMA, Nevada. Then I made my way to Georgia to be adopted. I had never been handled by a person until my owner, Jessica Shively adopted me. Jessica then had 190 days to gentle and train me for a three-day Mustang trainer challenge in Georgia. I was a little nervous, but Jessica and I had fun! We even placed 9th out of 150 trainer mustang pairs! Then Jessica ended up adopting me herself instead of adopting me out at the show. Now I'm used in TOFF'S veteran program, Operation No Longer a Number, and I've been integrated into the riding program after learning more how to confidently tote my riders.
About Me: I am very playful. I love to run and play with my pasture mates. I can be a bit of a barbie doll, meaning I love to have stand still and have my picture taken and I have plenty of 'horsenality' to show off. I don't have to be asked too many times to do something as I'm very smart and pick up tasks quickly. I enjoy trail obstacles, patterns, and tasks that make me think. I'm always looking to please my handler.
My Likes: I love attention, treats, and scratches. One of my favorite snacks is cucumbers. I also like carrots and Nickerdoodles.

Born: March 29 2016
Breed: pony

Color: palomino
Job Before: I was a rescue horse.
About Me: I had an infection in my eyes when I was born which made me completely blind in both eyes. My previous owners were downsizing, moving, and could no longer care for me. They reached out to Trail of Faith Farms in hopes to find me a loving home to live out my life. I was then donated to TOFF's equestrian program. I was under weight on arrival and had a smelly mouth. The vet came and also diagnosed me with EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis) a parasite contracted by ingesting possum droppings, which eats away the nerves on the spine and brain. The vet didn't think I would survive because my parasite numbers were abnormally high. The vet and my new owner, Jessica took a chance on me. I was prescribed Protazil to treat the EPM for a few months, and I pulled through. I still have side effects from the disease, so I get special supplements to keep me healthy. Now that I'm much healthier, I'll be getting my eyes removed once funds are raised. Even though I'm blind, my eyes are very itchy and uncomfortable. It'll cost $2,000 for the surgery.
My Likes: I love attention, treats, (carrots are my favorite) and I enjoy being hand grazed. I love to be around people and enjoy grooming sessions, my mane being braided, or hand grazed. I love being talked to as I can't see, but I have excellent hearing. I have a bell on my stall door so I can hear whoever enters and exits. Be careful when you exit though as I do try to sneak out into the yard to eat yummy grass without a halter on. My favorite treats are baby carrots and the Apple Nickermackers.

Job Before: I was a wild horse roaming the lands out west. I'm not sure where I was rounded up from, as my herd no longer exists. I do know I was in Kansas before making my way to North Carolina. I was rescued by Pasture Pals Equine rescue in May of 2012. I was very skinny, roughly 750 pounds, and living in a small pen. A halter grew into my face, and I have scars all over my body from being beat with a chain. My owner had a stroke and the people I was left with scared my body, hurt me, and burned me with cigarettes. I was so glad to be taken from there and rehabbed by Pasture Pals. They put weight on me, treated my wounds on my body, treated my infected eye, and taught me how to be a safe mustang. Then my new owner somehow got in touch with the owner of Pasture Pals and wanted to meet me. Fast forward, my new owner Jessica Shively, adopted me.
About Me: I am a kind, safe horse for all levels of horse enthusiasts. I can teach you the fundamentals of horsemanship as in catching, haltering, grooming, picking out feet, going on walks, loading on a trailer, working at liberty, and playing on the obstacle course. I love to practice the Parelli games. I'm used in TOFF's veteran program, Operation No Longer a Number. I'll be refreshed under saddle soon. I am a big girl as I have draft horse in me, so that means I'll be able to provide support to plus sized riders. I can be a bit nervous when away from my herd as I see myself as their protector. I also have some vision lose in my right eye, so just give me a warning when you're on my right side. If your kind and confident with me, I'll take care of whoever is handling me.
My Likes: I love attention, treats, and scratches on my neck and chest. I love to be hand grazed and hand walked. My favorite snacks are apples and carrots.
